Glazed tiles have their color and patterns glazed onto them by a manufacturer. Some tiles are produced using only one screen for every tile in the lot. This means that every tile will look the same. The current trend is toward multi-screened tiles, or tiles produced with a number of different screens. This yields a more natural looking varied pattern and overall color. Multi-screening also lets manufacturers better imitate naturally varied stones such as marble, slate, granite, and travertine.
